The Night Before Kindergarten

I had been reading blogs and seeing that people have all these "back to school" traditions.
Hum, we don't really.
I talked to John to see if they had any traditions growing up.
They did Father's Blessings (us too) and that's it.
John and I definitely wanted to keep that tradition up.
We had some time on our hands waiting for school to start, so why not work on our own traditions.
The boys and I did some baking.
We thought some "Happy Back to School" apple (decorated) cupcakes for our neighbors would be fun to do!
The boys are great helpers in the kitchen and loved going around to our neighbors and doing some door-bell ditching!
We also put together a little something for the boys' teacher's...I'm not above getting in teacher's good graces right from the first day.
The Kindergarten Center held an open house Wednesday (Sept. 4th) night for all the Kindergartners to come to the school, meet their teacher, get familiar with the school, where their classroom is...all that good stuff.
The PTO put together these cute grab bags for the kids.
Class of 2026!
Wow, it has begun.
We found his classroom.
Number 10.
Light blue door.  There is something like six Kindergarten classrooms and each one has a different color door that coordinates with a colored square by the buses and on the playground so the kids know where to line up.
Tate and his teacher Mrs. Pecha.
She seems very nice.
Tate had some school work to do right when we came in.
A scavenger hunt to find things around the classroom (his desk, the bathroom, class library, the class mascot-a life sized dog named Dakota, the drinking fountain, and his backpack hook).
After checking out all the cool things in his classroom we went outside to the playground to find his class's color square to line up at.

It was a great ice-breaker to starting school the next day.
It was much easier to send him on the bus knowing where he was going and that he had lots of people looking out for him.
Our new favorite book is the one he got to pick that night-The Bravest Fish.
A little "Welcome" gift from his teacher.
Tate came home more then excited and ready for school to finally start the next day!
