Primary Activity

At the beginning of the summer the stake leaders came to Primary and introduced a summer scripture reading program.
Tate was so excited to show me the treasure map he got!
The map of the world had scriptures with pictures in all the different countries.
The kids were to read the scriptures as a family and then color in the picture.
They got jewels on the map as they read the scriptures.

Today was the big culminating activity at the stake center.
Tate was excited his buddy Gage could go with us too.
Each ward represented a different country and had an activity from that country for the kids to do.
First up was a missionary activity.
The boys drew a picture and put some stickers of Jesus on a paper that was going in a Book of Mormon for the missionaries to pass out!

Next up was the Pacific Islands and they made leis out of fruit loops and cut-up colored straws (great idea!).
Running along (the boys ran everywhere) to the next station was Spanish Bingo.
I knew all the Dora Tate's been watching would payoff!
Tate loved it and got Bingo a few times.
It could have been the candy as a prize that kept him so interested.
Both boys were super excited to play golf . . . making their daddies proud!

Germany: they made bracelets with the German flag colors.
Making kites was our last stop.
They were running fast trying to make them fly.
We needed a little more wind to get those kites to catch air.
The closing activity was singing some songs and listening to some testimonies from three sisters from Germany, Chili, and Norway.
Tate and Gage did a pretty good job sitting quietly through it all- a tough order for little guys who were hungry and tired of sitting.
On a cheesy parental side note: one of the songs they sang was "Armies of Helaman."
It seriously brought a tear to my eye to hear these sweet primary kids singing "we are as the armies of Helaman.  We have been taught in our youth, that we will be the Lord's missionaries to bring the world His truth."  My baby is going to be a missionary one day.  And he's not really a baby anymore, and he will be that missionary much sooner then I'm ready for (sniff, sniff).
After sitting reverently listening to the last testimony-lunch in a cute to-go Chinese take-out box.

So much fun!

sounds like a great activity--maybe I'll copy it for use in Utah!!
