Easter Afternoon

After the morning Egg Hunt we hurried home and got ready for our annual BBQ and Egg Hunt with some friends from church and the neighborhood.  This is my favorite part of the day.  Something I love planning and getting ready for.  We started doing this three years ago when we were all somewhat new to the neighborhood and new friends:).  I love that it has become a tradition.
Since the weather had been pretty much rain all week, I didn't want to chance it with the BBQ.
John was relieved not to have to break out the grill, clean it and man-it for the party.
Instead, we did pulled pork sliders, hotdogs and pigs-in-a blanket.
I tried out some new dessert recipes (Lemon crinkle cookies, Bunny Bait, and of course cake-pop bites).
Everyone else brought side dishes to share.
It was all very delicious!
We couldn't have gotten a nicer day as far as the weather goes!
It was a sunny, warm day.  A little slice of Heaven.
We were happy to send the kids out on the deck to eat and play in the backyard while the "Daddy Bunnies" hid some eggs up the hill at the park.
We tried to get all the kids to line up before just letting them loose so the little kids would have a chance at getting some of the eggs before the big kids scooped them all up.
As hard as we tried, I think there is a little kiddo missing from all of the group shots.
We let them loose.
Not sure which Daddy Bunny thought the middle of the street was a good hiding place for eggs?
The boys were so into finding eggs this year.
They were running and sliding to get them.
Ryan enjoyed the sunshine and tried to pick up a few eggs too.
Tate totally scored and filled up his basket.
*Please note Tate dressed himself for the party.  I had no say in what he chose.*
Blake was just happy to be outside.  As soon as the kids started running, he took off running for the frog and whale toy you can ride.  He didn't care too much about all those eggs laying around.
It was a great time with good friends!

Will you please post the lemon crinkle cookie recipe somewhere? (You could put it on Roberta's recipe blog if you wanted.)
It sounds yummy!
