Easter

Easter was so much fun this year because Tate was totally pumped about the Easter Bunny and hunting for eggs.  Holiday's are always better when you have sweet kids to enjoy them with.  We decided to try out a different, closer, community egg hunt on Saturday morning.  There was a smaller one at the boat launch within walking distance of our house.  We couldn't have asked for nicer weather Saturday.  It was warm and sunny (something we have rarely seen this year!).  A perfect morning to break out the stroller for Blake and our walking shoes.  Well, it took a little longer then I thought to walk over because we were running down the last stretch of road to make it before they started at 10am.
We made.  Tate was especially happy to have Auntie Karrie join us for the day!  John was off playing in a basketball game and so he missed the fun.  I think they ended up winning the game, so it was a good morning for him too.
Tate would like to remind Auntie Karrie that she is welcome to move in anytime!!!
Blake wasn't feeling too well that weekend, so he hung out in the stroller trying to be a little happy.  He actually fell asleep in the stroller on the walk over and got abruptly woken up as the Easter Egg Hunt started.
I thought Tate might go after more eggs this year since we had been practicing hiding and finding eggs at home . . . but he would just pick up an egg, shake it and toss it back if it didn't make a noise.
He only got about 7 eggs or so, but was quite happy with the yummy treats inside.  He said he would share with us, but not until we got home.  I thought for sure he'd cave and start eating some.  But nope.  He kept telling me no, not until we got home each time I asked him for some Skittles.
Part two of the day started that afternoon.  We had some friends come over for a BBQ and egg hunt for the kids.  This is the second year we've done this and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the nice weather and Easter weekend with friends.  I think John was especially excited for the nice weather so we could all be outside in the back on the deck eating and playing (easier to clean up messes outside:)).  We enjoyed a nice potluck lunch and then the daddy bunnies hid lots of eggs up the street at the park.  I think after the morning warm-up, Tate was much faster at finding the eggs.
John was home in time to man the BBQ and help Tate with the hunting.
Blake still wasn't happy . . . poor guy was not well all weekend (it was rough!) . . . he was trying to figure out what that green stuff is he was sitting on.
The Bunnies even had carrot shaped eggs with treats in them.
I LOVE trying to get a lot of little kids all together, looking the same way, holding their baskets for a picture.  It never works out, but it is sure fun trying and they all look so cute looking different ways and totally unaware of all the adults trying to get them to smile and look straight ahead.
As if Tate hadn't already had enough treats for a life-time, the Easter Bunny came Sunday morning and left him a basket to find.  Luckily, he left some bunny prints to help him find the basket.  Tate was more then happy to help all of us find out baskets.
Blake was funny about his basket.  He kept looking at it like what have you just interrupted my breakfast for?!
I taught Young Women's that afternoon and it was really fun to hear from the Laurels about their family traditions for Easter.  I got some really good ideas about how to keep Christ and the Resurrection more a part of the celebration.
