A couple weeks ago, thanks to a Groupon to the Aquarium, I planned a day date with mom, Tate, Auntie Karrie and Grandma. Lucky for us Bonnie and Paije were in town so we invited Paije to join us at the aquarium. The kids had such a great time checking out all the animals! I wasn't sure if Tate would think it would be that much fun, but he was just there with John and Grandma and Grandpa Sparky so he remembered the cool octopus and was excited to see it again.
A aquarium worker brought some starfish over in a bowl so Tate and Paije could see and touch them better. They were checking out what they looked like on the bottom . . . Tate was tall enough to reach in the water and touch the sea animals himself. Little Paije seemed like she just wanted someone to put her right in the water!
The very cool octopus that I learned will change colors to adapt to its surroundings. We sat and watched him for a while.
Tate and Paije loved this Jellyfish Dome. They were most interested with the blue light on the floor, but kept running back and forth through the middle.
Paije was the cutest Jellyfish around!
Tate wasn't really feeling the whole "Be the Jellyfish vibe." He was much happier to just climb on it.
Tate felt so special that Auntie Karrie would take a day off of work to hang out with us! She kept Tate happy the entire time:)Right as we were leaving we stopped to see the sea otter by the waterfall. He came right over to Tate and Paije and ate a fish right in front of them. Tate thought is was awesome. I thought it was a bit gross.
We are so lucky to have grandma close by and willing to come play with us too!
I tried to get a picture of the cousins next to each other, both looking at the camera, but that never happens as hard as I try.
Being the whale!
After a great time at the aquarium, grandma was so kind to take the kiddos back to her house for some lunch and a nap. Karrie, Bonnie and I had a great "Girls Afternoon." Karrie got some great tickets to the Mariners game and they had a day game. So, we drove over to the game and found close (and free) parking. I love it when we can avoid paying $20 just to park when we probably weren't going to stay the entire time. The seats were just six rows back and even though we were close, we spent most of our time talking and not really paying attention to the game. We only wish it was a nicer day because it was really pretty cold sitting out there. Since we felt like we had stayed long enough and Bonnie was freezing, we called it a game and headed out.
But not before we had a quick snack-garlic fries and chicken strips. They were soooo good!
Since the kids were in such great hands and we were having such a great time catching up, we headed over to Bell-Square for some shopping. We found ourselves at the make-up counters getting mini-makeovers. It was great fun! When we looked at the time, we figured we better head back and relieve the grandma.
