The Pumpkin Patch

Tonight for Family Night we decided to head over to one of the local pumpkin patches. Tate was so excited to get another pumpkin. A few weeks ago we came home from Grandma's house with a HUGE pumpkin that we put on our front porch. It unfortunately met some of the neighborhoods more unruly teenagers and ended up smashed up the street. We learned our lesson: pumpkins go on the back deck until maybe a couple days before Halloween-we'll move them to the front porch and hope they survive. This farm (Thomasson Family Farm) had lots of fun things besides just pumpkins. But, before we checked out all of that, we had to find just the right pumpkins. Tate was the pumpkin inspector. He walked all over the field trying to find "just the right one." This is actually the pumpkin that I picked out. I always go for the medium, taller kind. That way it doesn't take forever to carve. Not like the one John picked out. He'll be carving that thing out all night long. Tate picked a pumpkin that is like a hot dog. I think he liked it because it was easy for him to pick up. Blake just enjoyed hanging out with all the pumpkins and exploring the dirt and dried leaves on the ground. I knew we brought him along for something! My two little pumpkins.

After we felt satisfied with our pumpkin choices, we headed over to the animal petting area. There were goats, bunnies, little pigs, a donkey, mini or baby cows, but Tate's favorite was this miniature horse. Tate loved petting him over and over and over.

After Tate got his fill of the animals we got some dinner. Blake wasn't too thrilled with his options-the usual-baby food. After all that pumpkin hunting, Tate worked up a good appetite. He ate his entire kids meal which is a vary rare thing. He might of just loved the idea that his dinner came in this cute cow box. He is way into the milkman. They tried tempting John with homemade pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie, but he held off. It is a good thing the homemade donuts only happen on the weekends. John and I both would have been in trouble if those were available. After thoroughly enjoying ourselves, we were getting ready to load up our pumpkins and head out, when they asked us to go on a tractor pulled hay ride. Well, you can't pass that up. Even if Blake is getting fussy. Tate and Blake both loved going up and down the pumpkin patch in such a cool tractor. I was glad we didn't skip out on that.

Family Night at the pumpkin patch. A success.
