Covington Days

We've lived in the Covington area for going on 4 years now and finally were in town to go to "Covington Days" for the first time last weekend. The festivities start off with a parade in the morning, but we weren't able to make it to that part. We came over in the afternoon to check out the different booths and see all the fun activities they had for the kids. Tate had such a great time walking around, and dancing to the music, checking everything out. One of our first stops was to see the firetruck.

The local fire station had a fun obstacle course for the kids to go through-kids had to go under a bar signifying how tall kids needed to be before they could get out of using a booster seat in the car, jump over the chemicals that are bad in a hop-scotch game, and crawl through a tunnel like if there was a fire (get low to the ground). After completing those tasks, the kids were given a bag with some cool coloring pages and the parents were given a bag with important info. and my favorite--Mr. Yuk stickers! Tate and I are going to go through the house putting those stickers on the cleaning supplies.Tate was being pretty good just sitting in the seat and not getting into too much trouble-he really wanted to push all the buttons and make noises.

Another highlight of the afternoon is in the background of this picture. The llamas! You could pay to get your picture taken with the llamas, but we thought this was close enough. On our way out, we did stop by and get a closer look at the animals so Tate would be happy. He kept saying, "llamas, spit." Yep, that's why we kept our distance.

We met up with Tate's buddy Gage, and they had a great time in the Allied Waste car while I looked at what was for sale at some of the booths in that area. We had a great time walking around-I think it's great that the cities put on this festival and do a lot of free games and activities for the kids. Tate left with two balloons, multiple lolli pops, coloring books galore and I even found a few things to bring home. I think we'll be sure to go again next year.
