It really was a treat to have grandma and grandpa Sparky come into town for a few days before Halloween. The boys had a great time hanging out with them and doing all the fun activities that lead up to Halloween.
Everyone enjoying a movie night.
This is so Blake.
Chillin' and enjoying a show.
Our ward always puts on a great trunk-or-treat.
Super hero's were ready to go so we headed to the church building.
I think when we left it wasn't raining . . . or it had been raining off and on.
Of course by the time we got to the church it was pouring down rain.
We enjoyed the chili-cook off for dinner and then the boys were off to go play the games
before trunk-or-treating.
I was using my old camera, so moving parts are blurry.
That with the darker lighting didn't make for many good pictures of the games.
The boys got to go fishing and pick a prize.
They went tombstone golfing . . .
Ran into their favorite babysitter, Bronwyn, who was a great looking Super Girl.
She fit in with our costume theme:)
Because of the rain they moved the trunk-or-treating part of the evening inside.
Not my favorite.
It made for some crowded church hallways, but the boys didn't seem to mind.
We had to take grandma and grandpa home on the following Monday and we were sad to see them go. We hope they will come back for another visit.
In all the festivities and having grandma and grandpa here, we didn't have time to get any pumpkins carved until the day before Halloween.
When it is just me and the boys doing pumpkins we get nice, simple pumpkins with easy to carve faces.
Blake was obsessed with these plastic vampire teeth he got at trunk-or-treating.
Tate got some too and they had so much fun trying to talk to each other with them in.
Blake is trying to smile for the picture with them in his mouth.
Hard to do.
Tate got to get dressed up in his costume for school.
That's a good looking preschool class!
When Tate got home from preschool we started getting ready for trick-or-treating.
I was really wanting to get an early start because the boys never last that long and usually our neighborhood has lot of kids out. I wanted to get a head start before all the big-kids started:)
Ryan made a costume change and was a cute zebra.
That outfit kept him nice and warm while we were out.
Two superheros ready to fly away!
Ryan didn't think being in his costume was that much fun anymore.
That was the tip-off to the evening.
The best picture we could do before starting off around the neighborhood.
The boys had a pretty good time.
It was a lot little frustrating to go to many houses who had their lights on, but didn't answer.
Isn't it common Halloween courtesy to turn your light off if you're not at home or don't want kids knocking on your door. It takes a lot of effort to get all the kids on the porch ready to knock just to have no one answer.
Annoying.
Tate is usually the first one to want to go home.
Blake hung in their for a while longer. No surprise there from my Mr. Candy Monster.
They were so pooped out by the time we go home, they took a bath and went right to bed.
They didn't seem to notice John and I going through the candy taking out the good stuff!
