We had a very nice Father's Day with lots of family-lucky us! John's brother, Steve, and his family stopped by to visit for a few days on their way back to Colorado Springs via Disneyland. We were so excited to have them stay with us because we don't get to see them that much so it was nice to have time to visit and get caught up. Plus they have three great kids who loved playing with Tate and Blake. They had some plans to visit friends on Father's Day, so we saw them later that evening.
These are the boys getting ready to head out the door to church. My new goal these days is to move from being "back-dwellers" at church to sitting somewhere closer in the benches. That means we have to have our act together Sunday morning and be out the door earlier then we are used to. It is worth it-at least for me-to get more out of Sacrament meeting because there are less distractions in front of us
(that is except for my own kiddos:)).
I knew I probably wouldn't get a really great picture with all three of them looking at me at the same time, but this one will do to remember the day.
This is a little more like it. Tate was so excited to get his dad a wireless drill and really long extension cord for Father's Day. Tate thought maybe it was about time his dad had the right equipment so we wouldn't have to bug our friends or neighbors to borrow theirs. Tate wouldn't let the extension cord out of his sight (or apparently his mouth!). Blake napped through the opening of the gifts, but was excited to be matching his dad and wearing a tie for the first time to church.
After a nice church meeting, we were so surprised to see Auntie Karrie waiting for us in the driveway. Tate was maybe the most excited! My parents were going to stop by on their way home from a "Hooray, Dad's Finally Retired Road Trip!" and join us for dinner. We of course invited Karrie, but weren't sure she was going to make the long drive or not. Well, we were just so happy to share this special day with the family! Karrie brought the entertainment-a fun Jeopardy game including categories like "Important Dates, Which Child," and another fun 'how much do you know your family' like category. Dad did very well and John, not to be left out of a competition, joined in and did surprising well too!
It was great hearing about all the fun my parents had and all about their treasures they were bringing home. The boys had missed their grandma and grandpa and are very happy to have them home again! Who else is going to get Blake to eat something green?!
No body cuddles better then Grandma. After dinner, we said goodbye to grandma and grandpa and then we headed over to our friends the Ballard's for some root beer floats. Paige did an awesome job decorating with a super-cute tie banner and yummy treats with ties ("Tie-rrific Dad") and other cute labels on them. It was a great day celebrating our dads and recognizing what an important part of our family they are.
